7/8 Meet in Media Center.
All assignments for the Space Independent
Study should be submitted by now. The last part of the
assignment is Oral Presentation, and includes a teaching element.
(See assignment handout.) Students may use drawings,
pictures, PowerPoints, or visual aids.
There are four days left to complete preparations.
Presentations begin on Monday, Feb. 28 with earlybird
volunteers.
6th Read Alouds
The story is "I Just Kept on Smiling" by Simon Burt.
Begin story discussion: comprehension, motivation,
boys' schools of long ago, inner conflicts, etc.
This story is from Junior Great Books, 7th level.
Wednesday, February 24
7/8 Work on last element of assignment during class.
Please be sure materials, if needed,are at school.
Paper, colored pencils, markers, tape, etc. are
available. It's a good idea to have a presentation
outline made.
6th Goal: Application of ideas and Creativity
Students are to take one main idea from our
story and create a visual representation of that idea.
Anything from the story is appropriate.
Some ideas are friendship, authority figures,
isolation, or punishment. How can an idea
be represented through paper?
Thursday, February 25
7/8 Final Preparations continue. This
assignment concludes the large Space Unit.
6th Finish applications of an idea.
Friday, February 26
7/8 Backgammon rules, strategies, and
playing. All students should learn at least
five new games per trimester.
Chess is available, as are others.
