7/8 - In anticipation of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton,
students will prepare arguments for and against the huge media coverage both here and in England. Teams of two will discuss issues in courtroom style. Components for each speaker include: opening remarks, premise, support statements, and a conclusion.
Also be prepared to rebut opposing positions. Students may choose partners and which side they favor (for or against). This oral activity will be Friday.
6th - Begin Comedy Unit. Handout on Types of Comedy. There are 28 types listed.
Students choose 20 of the 28 possible types and draw, copy, or paste examples in booklet form. Today we will be making the blank booklets with expandable pages.
If possible, bring examples from home.We cannot view any R-rated movies, but PG-13 is possible. Excerpts only. We will be learning about all types of comedy.

7/8 - Critical Thinking - Common Errors in Reasoning
Green books: Read page 67. discussion of 7 kinds of faulty reasoning.
Prepare own examples. 10 points.
Discuss storyboards for scripts.
6th - Comedy examples.
"I Love Lucy" Episode 30: The Vitameatavegamin Girl.
Identify type of comedy and components in journals.
Wednesday, April 27
7/8th - Work on defining movie careers from listing in journals.
COWS all periods. Could work on storyboards.
6th - Movie Careers definitions in journals.
Thursday, April 28
7/8th - Critical Thinking green books. Page 69, #1-9.
Identify reasoning. Read 3.2 and add discussion problems #1-5
if time allows.
6th - Buster Keaton. Identify comedy style.
Friday, April 29
7/8th - Courtroom oral presentations re: wedding.
All students present.
6th - Tea Party celebrating the wedding of William
and Kate. Cookies, cakes, scones, and tea.
Discussion of world events and the wedding.
6th - movie careers.
